Welcome!

Welcome to my new photography blog. Paper Lantern Photography is my little nook and outlet for creativity. Check in often to see what/who I’ve been meeting. I will always try to post a sneak peek from new sessions.

I’m a mom to highly energetic toddler twin boys. They are my inspiration for photography and the reason I strive to be a better photographer. Watching them play makes me want to save every single moment before they grow up. I want to document their bonding, fighting, and view on the world. Being with them helps me understand that it is important to capture these memories. It helps me to connect to my clients and strive to freeze those memories for them. Whether you are celebrating a milestone, expecting a new addition, or just out for some fun, I would like to be your lifestyle photographer.

My style of photography is a little unique from your typical studio. I tend to be more natural, fresh, and on-location. My editing style is simple and I don't process your photographs with the latest fad. My goal is to capture your lifestyle and create photographs that are timeless. You will walk away with original photos which you will treasure forever.

Enjoy browsing my blog and email me to set up a session!

The contest has been extended! | Georgia Child Photographer

Re-read the post about the contest below. The dates have been changed due to all of the things that have happened this week. Wow! The things that could happen in a week:

1. We had to replace our nanny (the biggest headache!)
2. Finally getting over this cold that hit 3/4 of our family members.
3. Getting my email hacked! (sorry for all of the missed emails and lost emails) If you haven't heard from me please re-send all correspondence to christie@paperlanterngallery.com only and not any other email accounts.

But things to look for in the upcoming week:
1. an awesome newborn session!
2. a commercial shoot (ok. so I don't always share my commercial work since it doesn't necessarily pertain to babies, children, and families), but I do commercial work or sometimes I share it and pass it off as some cute little baby! ;o)
3.  Also if you know any high school juniors (class of 2011), tell them to contact me ASAP!!! I am going to start accepting applications for spokes models for the class of 2011 soon! I will be accepting up to two students from each school in Gwinnett County, parts of Dekalb, and Hall counties!

Also, my pricing will be changing in a few months, so book your sessions soon to lock in our current rates. Rates will be locked in once session fees are paid.

I try not to post without a photo: I love it when he smiles so much that I can't see his eyes!

Come celebrate our Grand Opening and be a part of Paper Lantern Photography's (PLP) first contest!

My assistants and I will post our favorite 15 images. The public (your friends and family) will be allowed to vote on their favorite image. The winner will receive a free session from PLP, free 8x10, and 20% off prints and products (a value of over $200).

Rules:
1. Free session must be redeemed by 04/15/2010

2. Only one vote per day (but you can tell your family and friends to come and vote too) I will know if you vote more than once and reserve the right to disqualify any applicant.
If one child wins the contest, all siblings of that child will be able to participate in the free session.

3. Applicants must reside within 35 miles of zip code 30047. If you are unsure if you reside within this area, map your address to this zip code and it will tell you the distance.

Winter Photo Sessions in Georgia | Atlanta Child Photographer

Brrrr. It's been so cold here lately. There are still some spots of ice left on the ground. I've never seen the lake in our neighborhood frozen before and honestly, who wants to spend a lot of time outdoors when it's this cold right?

What do we do then? Now is a perfect time to do those indoor shots of your little ones. Don't worry if you think your house does not photograph well. Just as long as there is no clutter and lots of natural light, my shooting style blurs out the background. A unique idea this year for Valentine's Day cards can be photo cards for your children to pass out at school and to send to family members. Another idea are tea parties. These qualify for mini session prices and corresponding print packages.

My babies who are currently enrolled in the baby milestone plans have great potential indoors. I know you spent a lot of time decorating that nursery and I always like taking photos in there as well as on back drop stands and living areas in your home. Your babies are so cute anywhere we place them!

This was one of the last photos we took outside before it turned super cold. In the meantime, think warm thoughts!

Beautiful Family Photo Session | Suwanee GA Family Photographer

I had the pleasure of photographing one of my good friend's family yesterday. It was cold and the poor kids and parents were such troopers! I wish I could post a family photo of them, but won't just in case they want to use it for a holiday card and I don't want to spoil the surprise. BUT... I wish I could post it with a comment to say "All clients dress like this!" Mom picked out awesome outfits for the entire family that coordinated well with each other.

I hope you enjoy your little sneak peek.

Thanksgiving | Snellville Georgia Family Photographer

As I sit here still stuffed from Thanksgiving leftovers, I am thinking about all the events of this year in my personal life and professional life. I am most thankful for my family and know that they are the reason for what I do.

I only have a few spots left for this year if you still want to get a family session for those holiday cards.

Just a reminder: If you are due in January or February, now is the time to book a session with me. I get inquiries after the baby is born and most of the time, it is too late. These sessions are very time sensitive. Newborns are best photographed within the first 10 days of birth to get the cute poses.

Speaking of cute poses here is another one from one of my recent newborn sessions. The baby was 7 days old.

Also, we are getting close to reaching the 25th fan on my facebook page. Keep spreading the word to win a prize.

1 week new and such a doll! | Buford GA Newborn Photographer

Well, it happened again, I fell in love with another one of my clients. Look at her. Wouldn't you? She was such a good baby and slept the entire time! I hope she was good for mom after I left. Mom by the way is fabulous and so cool to hang out with! It was great seeing you again. You will being seeing some more of this family as we take some family photos. We couldn't do them today since the weather was pretty gloomy. We were pressed up against the french doors just to get these shots.
